It's sometimes easy to get the impression that buying a home on the Costa del Sol involves spending a fortune. With so much attention given to luxury villas, expensive apartments and properties with enormous price tags, it's easy to overlook the more modest homes that still have plenty to offer.

But you don't necessarily need a huge budget to find somewhere attractive, comfortable and ready to move into, particularly if you're looking for a holiday home or a base from which to enjoy life on the Costa del Sol.

A good example is this renovated two-bedroom townhouse in the heart of Mijas Pueblo. It's a lovely, characterful home that has been renovated while retaining features such as its natural wooden beams. There's a comfortable living room, a separate dining area and a modern fitted kitchen, together with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding slipper bath.

Outside, there's a courtyard terrace with space for dining and relaxing, as well as a solarium terrace where you can enjoy the sunshine.

The house is fully furnished, has hot and cold air conditioning and double glazing, and is ready to move into. There's no need to start planning a renovation or buying furniture before you can settle in.

And then there's the location. Mijas Pueblo is one of the Costa del Sol's best-known white villages, with its traditional streets, shops, restaurants and everyday amenities. From this townhouse, you can walk to the local facilities, including the supermarket, while the beaches at Mijas Costa and Fuengirola are a short drive away.

Of course, a village townhouse won't suit everyone. Some buyers will want a private garden, a swimming pool or more space. But for someone looking for a manageable home in an established village, with plenty of character and everyday conveniences close by, this could be a very attractive option.

And perhaps that's the point. A home doesn't have to be enormous, or come with a price that looks like a telephone number, to have a long list of things going for it.
