Can you still buy a reasonably priced villa within walking distance of the beach in Marbella?

Can you still buy a reasonably priced detached villa in Marbella within walking distance of the beach? We look at a three-bedroom villa priced at €699,999, with private gardens, good accommodation and easy access to the town and local amenities. An example of how you don't necessarily need a multimillion-euro budget to enjoy living in Marbella.

3-bedroom villa, walking distance to Marbella's beaches

Marbella Villa for under €700,000

When you think about buying a detached villa in Marbella, it's easy to imagine that you'll need a budget running into several million euros. And, of course, there are plenty of properties where that is the case.

But it isn't always necessary to spend that sort of money to find a comfortable home with its own garden, particularly if you're happy with something a little more traditional.

We've recently been looking at a three-bedroom detached villa on the eastern side of Marbella town, close to the famous Marbella arch, which is on the market for €699,999. What makes this property interesting isn't just the price. It's the combination of the house itself and its location.

The beaches, restaurants, shops and everyday amenities are all within walking distance, and it's even possible to walk into Marbella town. For anyone who doesn't want to rely on a car every time they go out, that's a considerable advantage.

The villa is built in a traditional Mediterranean style, with most of the accommodation on one level. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living room with an open fireplace and a fitted kitchen. Upstairs, there's an additional sitting area or study with access to a solarium terrace.

Outside, there's a private garden with terraces for sitting, dining and entertaining, together with a carport and garage.

There's no built-in swimming pool, although there is space for one, subject to the necessary permissions. The present owners have used an above-ground Jacuzzi in the garden, which is another possibility. Of course, not everybody wants a swimming pool, and for some buyers, having a private garden to enjoy without the additional maintenance of a pool is an advantage in itself.

The house could benefit from some updating, and we don't see any reason to pretend otherwise. But that's also an opportunity for somebody to make it their own, perhaps gradually, rather than having to take on a major project from the outset.

And that brings us back to the point of this article. Not everybody moving to Marbella is looking for a large contemporary villa with six bedrooms, a cinema room, a gym and an infinity pool. There are plenty of people who simply want a comfortable home, some privacy, a garden and a location that makes everyday life convenient.

€699,999 is still a substantial amount of money, but when we consider that this is a detached villa in Marbella, within walking distance of the beach and local amenities, it offers an interesting alternative to properties costing considerably more.

After over 25 years selling property on the Costa del Sol, we've learned that finding the right home isn't necessarily about having the biggest house or the longest list of features. Sometimes it's simply about finding a house that suits the way you want to live, in a location you enjoy, at a price that makes sense.
