Sometimes you see a property that naturally invites you in

Buying a home is as much an emotional decision as a financial one. Sometimes you see a property that simply feels right, and one particular villa in Monda was a reminder of just how powerful that feeling can be.

Home is where the heart is.

I have always firmly believed that if you see the right property, you will know it immediately. It will invite you in, and you won't have any doubt in your mind as to whether or not you are doing the right thing.

This sounds very simplistic, but at the end of the day, buying a property is as much an emotional decision as it is a financial one, and often the emotional attraction to a particular home can outweigh the financial considerations.

This fact was reinforced for me recently by a villa which is for sale in Monda. It is located about 20 to 25 minutes' drive inland from Marbella. It is a great country setting because it gives you the peace and privacy of the country lifestyle while still providing easy access to local shops and amenities, with the attractions and facilities of Marbella and the Costa del Sol only a short drive away.

This particular villa in Monda is set on a 6,000 m² plot with open views over the countryside, and it has a private swimming pool with extensive terraces and space for relaxing. There is a long driveway with plenty of parking space, together with a large garage which provides space not only for parking the car but also for storage.

Inviting Monda country villa with beamed ceilings

The home itself is quite simple. It includes an exceptionally spacious open-plan living room with a beamed ceiling, a sitting area with a wood-burning fireplace and access to the terrace, a dining area and an open-plan kitchen with an island unit, fitted units and built-in appliances.

On the ground floor, there is also a bedroom with an en suite bathroom, and on the upper floor there are two bedrooms together with a well-appointed family bathroom. The villa also has hot and cold air conditioning.

The interesting thing here is that, in many ways, this is quite a simple home. It's not ridiculously expensive, but, for me, the attraction is definitely there. I must confess that if I were currently in the market to buy a property, I have a feeling that I would have gone to look at this one, and it quite possibly might not still be available for sale!

We are currently in the process of writing an observational piece on how many properties you need to view before you decide to buy the right one. This particular home reinforces my initial answer to the question, which is actually that you only need to view one if it's the right one.

We are certainly not suggesting that you should ignore the financial considerations just because you find a property that you really like. But the honest advice is that sometimes, when people find the home they really want, they find a way to make the finances work.
