Ironman 70.3 World Championship Comes to Marbella

We are looking forward to a busy weekend in Marbella on the 8th and 9th of November 2025 as the Ironman 70.3 World Championship comes to the area. Ironman is one of the biggest events on the global endurance calendar, bringing together elite and amateur athletes from all over the world.

The title Ironman 70.3 World Championship refers to the total distance covered in miles, equating to roughly 113 kilometres. The contestants complete a 1.9-kilometre swim followed by a 90-kilometre cycle and finally a 21-kilometre run. The women’s championship takes place on Saturday and the men race on Sunday. Both days promise a mix of determination, noise and atmosphere around Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, the coastline, and also inland towards Coín.

There are two versions of the Ironman competition. The full World Championship covers a distance of 140.6 miles and is based in Hawaii and other global venues. The Ironman 70.3 series acts as both a standalone competition and a qualifier for the full World Championship and the 140-mile distance.

This is another sign of how Marbella continues to grow as a host for international sporting events. Between the climate, infrastructure and natural beauty of the area, it is easy to see why organisers are choosing Marbella and the Costa del Sol more often for world-class competitions. It is good for the local economy and a reminder that this corner of Spain has much more to offer than just sunshine and sea.

From a practical point of view, there will be some road closures and movement restrictions across the weekend, especially in the early mornings and around the race routes. If you are planning activities, viewing properties, or travelling between Puerto Banús and the inland areas, allow a little extra time and check the official information pages for details on diversions and access:
