Message from Spain - Tourists welcome!

Following the de-escalation of the Cod-19 lockdown, Spain is now ready to welcome back tourists

Welcome back to Spain

From June 21st Spain is opening the doors and rolling out the welcome mat for tourists from the EU (including the UK) and Schengen zones.  After a lock down of just on 3 months the borders are now re-opening and visitors are once again welcome to come and enjoy the Spanish sunshine.

The lock down has been tough in Spain and we have worked with some of the toughest regulations in Europe in order to bring the figures under control.  This has put huge personal and financial pressure on the people and it is with great relief, and maybe a little foreboding, that we see the borders opening and life returning to what is being called the “new normal”.

The general feeling here is the tourists are more than welcome, the businesses and economy need tourism and there is a feeling that tourism is valued more than it was before.  Hopefully this will show in the welcome that you will be given.  If there is some foreboding it is purely on the basis that the visitors will need to follow the rules that have been put in place for the safety of the public.   Social distancing has become a matter of habit and the people here are very good at following the rules, these include wearing masks in enclosed spaces and open air public spaces where the new 1.5 metre self-distancing rules cannot be observed.  Now that the de-escalation has taken place the rules which remain are, for the most part sensible and have allowed bars and restaurants to open and for life to return to normal.

Wherever you are planning to visit you will be made welcome.  Please just make yourself aware of the local rules and stick by them.  For example the are different systems in place in various places to make sure that the beaches don’t become overcrowded, in Benidorm they even have a reservation system with an online app.   Please respect the systems and the people who are enforcing them, they are there for a reason and we can only be thankful that they have brought us to where we are today.

Most of all enjoy your visit and relax.  After what we have been through we all deserve it.  We look forward seeing you over the next weeks.
