La Cala de Mijas

Often known just as La Cala,  La Cala de Mijas is the first Village you come to when heading west along the coast from Fuengirola.

Within the last 10 years La Cala has grown dramatically from it’s origins as a quaint white painted fishing village sitting in the shelter of a promontory on the Mediterranean sea.   Whilst it has retained much of its original character it now has a thriving and bustling atmosphere with a wide variety of shops and restaurants to satisfy the needs of the international community.   The Spanish feel of the Vilage does however remain intact with Spanish bars still providing the traditional cuisine at very realistic prices.

Twice a week (Wednesday and Saturday) there is a market on the land behind the Village and this is very much a working market with fresh vegetables and general supplies rather than the more tourist orientated markets to be found in Nueva Andalucia and Estepona.

La Cala has a sandy beach lined with bars and restaurants.

Behind La Cala there has been an extensive amount of developments with a wide variety of property available within walking distance of the Village and beach.  This is a great location for family holidays or for a second home.
